Over
the course of the past 10 years, Translate Central has positioned
itself as a leader in the translation/localization of HTML, XML, and
SGML because of its versatility and web delivery to our customers. One
large database of XML, managed correctly, offers the ability to output
to printed text, online learning, e-books, and multimedia products. Problem:
The problem is translators are forced to work outside of the Microsoft Word environment and thus are faced with translating large amounts of code. The issues translators have with code is they are unable to use all of their translation tools and the actual look and feel of the code is very hard on the translator's eyes. Also, if a single tag is corrupted or accidentally deleted then the entire file would produce error statements during the output or viewing stage.
Solution:
The CMS simply manages this content for the translators. It provides a secure, web-based application for translators to be able to work without any unnecessary formatting and for the project managers to be able to track production, receive quick quotes for P.O.'s, and posting source files for translation. Also, one of the largest benefits to both translators and customers is our CMS is completely Trados (.tmx) compliant using state-of-the-art memory tools to assist in consistency and redundancy of translation. Many of our customers have their own translators which we offer access to the system. Another option is the customer can use our translators to either manage all of their translations or to supplement their own translator base.
Our CMS is Unicode compliant and works perfectly with two-byte character (i.e.. Chinese and Japanese) and other "Special character" languages. Of course, we still continue to support all of the major software platforms other than web-based including Macintosh and Microsoft Office applications.
